Much Ado About Nothing

Patrick Henry College's Eden Troupe (student-run drama group) is producing Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 11, 12, and 13 at 7:30 PM.

I attended rehearsal for the first time on Wedensday evening. I'm working as House Manager this production--which is different from most of what I've done before. A bit of box-office on nights of performances, making sure the house is ready for performances and special seating needs, and coordinating radios for directors and crew.

Watching the rehearsal on Friday night, Christy (one of the students) and I volunteered our services as dance coaches for the one dance scene. The scene was already well staged and choreographed, but some of the couples in the scene had no ballroom experience and their lack of experience and confidence was rather noticable. Spending a few minutes with them between their on-stage scenes, we worked on developing lead-follow and some basic dance moves. They haven't run the scene since then, but off-stage, I could see an improvement in their confidence and the purposefulness of their movements. I'm looking forward to seeing the final details fall into place during dress-rehearsals this week.

I'm expecting another great Eden Troupe production this weekend!
