A prayer requqest
My mom went in for a bronchoscope this afternoon, expecting to visit thedoctor next week for the results. After the bronchoscope, the doctor insistedon admitting her immediately to the hospital and scheduling surgery to removea portion of her lung tomorrow.
We are startled by the doctor's aggresive response, as Mom has had this spoton her lung for more than 18 years. The doctor has not stated whether hethinks this is cancer.
Please pray
- that the surgery goes well tomorrow
- for peace for my parents and the rest of the family in this time of uncertainty
- that the surgery will effectively address the problem without need for further treatment.
UPDATE 11/15: The surgery is scheduled for 10AM CT (11AM ET), so Mom is on her way into surgery right now. They will first try to remove "that black and gold" thing through her mouth. If that doesn't work, they'll use an incision low down around the bikini line to get to the "shiny" lump. She will need to spend a couple of days in the ICU (hopefully as she is not a smoker and is generally "young and healthy" she won't need a respirator). Then a couple of more days in a regular room. Not sure whether she'll be home for Thanksgiving. They are not expecting cancer or a tumor--more likely an object that was inhaled and has been embedded and encapsulated by the lung, but of course, won't know for sure until they get in.
Congratulations to Tom and Sarah on their engagement!
